Two Day Conference:
Upgrading the Curriculum for 21st Century Learners
Join educators in the New Jersey Area who are committed to providing their students with a challenging thoughtful curriculum for the future.
This dynamic interactive two-day conference features internationally recognized leader in the field of curriculum reform, Dr. Heidi Hayes Jacobs and nationally recognized members of the Curriculum Designers' Faculty - Dr. Ann Johnson, Dr. Marie Alcock, and Bill Sheskey, who all have extensive experience working with educators helping them design curriculum for the 21st Century.
Schools as Launching Pads to the Future.
Dr. Jacobs, president of Curriculum Designers, Inc., suggests that whatever we choose to include in our curricula will provide the preparation for learners for 5 years, 10 years, and well into their future. Heidi will share ideas and strategies which are featured in her upcoming ASCD book, Curriculum 21: New Essential Curriculum for 21st Century Learners to show participants how they can "upgrade" dated curriculum content, skills, and assessments with timely and engaging contemporary replacements.
Areas that will be featured in this conference include:
- the role of standards and curriculum across the country given that many are startlingly dated
- current perspectives on "globalizing" state standards
- the extremely formidable role of testing as a shaper of curriculum
- the latest work on Digital Portfolios, electronic learning, and distance learning
- creative out-of-the-box school designs for 21st Century Learners: new scheduling options, student grouping patterns, extended school year,
- technology tools to merge curriculum maps with assessment data and personnel configurations will be addressed.
