About Curriculum DesignersAt Curriculum Designers our goal is to provide a full range of resources and services to all educators and schools involved in the journey of Curriculum Mapping. Although the process of facilitating Curriculum Mapping as a curriculum tool began several years earlier, Curriculum Designers, Inc. was officially created in 1997 by its founder and president, Dr. Heidi Hayes Jacobs. At Curriculum Designers we know that Distance Learning works because we live it every day. We are a 100% virtual company. As mapping has spread across the nation, so has Curriculum Designers. Our General Manager, Kathy Scoli, is based in New York and has been with Heidi since the very start. Our leadership team members are based throughout the country - Veronica Casanova in New York, Elyse Hunter in Cleveland, Earl Nicholas in Chicago, Ann Johnson in Des Moines, Lorie Garver in Phoenix, Trevor Parscal in San Francisco, and Greg Lind in Portland, OR. Heidi’s work in the area of curriculum integration and rigorous discipline based and interdisciplinary studies was the basis for Curriculum Designers first wave work. When Heidi introduced modern Curriculum Mapping with the publication of her second book, Mapping the Big Picture: Integrating Curriculum and Assessment K-12, (ASCD, 1997), the field expanded. Software solutions emerged to support her model. Since that time she has traveled the world delivering keynotes, sponsoring regional workshops, and working directly with teachers on the mapping journey. Since that time, with her books on mapping and active literacy services from Curriculum Designers has expanded. Curriculum Designers also sponsors the National Curriculum Mapping Institute. The fifteenth annual institute, CMI 2009, will be held this summer from July 7 - 12, 2009 in Park City, Utah. In addition to her own work, Dr. Jacobs and Dr. Ann Johnson, CDI Director of Professional Development, have developed a faculty of experienced national, international, and regional consultants. Many of these consultants have published books and actively appear at regional workshops. They are available to work with individual schools and school districts. Each consultant has in-the-field, on-the-job experience which has proven valuable in implementing projects. We list only outstanding educators. Jacobs and Johnson have a book soon to be released by ASCD on Professional Development Modules for Alignment and Mapping. The newest project for Curriculum Designers is Curriculum21, a model developed by Dr. Jacobs to significantly update dated curriculum and instruction with contemporary and forward looking learning experiences. |
